W. T. Woodson High School announces
One Book. One Day.
An innovative and interactive synthesis of Literature, Research, and Technology
Fairfax VA February 3, 2012: “One Book. One Day.” is being held at W. T Woodson High School on Friday, February 3rd. Designed as an immersive experience to expose the students to discussion, lecture, technology, research, and project-based learning, it is a combined project involving the talents and resources of the WTW Library, the English Department, and the Department of Technical and Instructional Integration. The students’ independent study of literature will become a collaborative, interactive online project in the one day event.
Focusing on The Waste Land, T. S. Eliot’s landmark modernist poem, the English 12 students will create a hypertext related to and encompassing art, primary sources, and critical essays in an accessible online archive. Using five screens for multi-group interaction, students will be able to watch their creation of their hypertext evolve in real time as the day progresses. These educational documents will then be a resource for the whole school as they will be linked on the Woodson website.
Lunch will be served through generous donations from the local Chick-fil-A as well as Woodson High School.
